Cloud Witness releases new video

The queer pop band Cloud Witness has a new, ethereal song video directed by Francesco Nassimbeni.

Francesco Nassimbeni, a director who has already won multiple awards, has directed a music video for the up-and-coming LGBT pop band Cloud Witness.

The video for Cloud Witness’s single “Aah” is an extension of the director’s pursuit of gentleness and intimacy; he earned the award for Best Experimental Short at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for his quintet of fashion films, “A-E-I-O-U.”

“I wanted to present a view of queer love that was soft, intimate, trusting, and safe,” the filmmaker said of the film. The concept of consent fascinates me; in fact, I find it extremely alluring. Video game sex is a common source of hostility, especially in gay media. I aimed to offer a more nuanced, sophisticated perspective.
The film has won a few honours so far, including Best Director at the Music Video Awards in Los Angeles, and is filled with gentle, yearning imagery that complement a pleasant, synth-pop music.

The director credits Anna Telford of Butterfly Films and acclaimed cinematographer Pierre De Villiers (“This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection”) as being instrumental in his success at Cannes.

“Both Anna and Pierre approach their profession with a compassion and lack of ego which is really unique,” says the director of the team.
